There is a massive amount of SEO power that is in your control, the secret is in harnessing those elements so that you can drive organic traffic to your site.
What is Onsite Optimization?
On-page SEO is the practice of optimizing individual web pages in order to rank higher and earn more relevant traffic in search engines. On-page refers to both the content and HTML source code of a page that can be optimized, as opposed to off-page SEO which refers to links and other external signals. moz.com
Why is Onpage SEO Important?
SEO is important because it allows a website easy for both users and search engines to understand. Although search engines are super smart, they still can’t read and understand a page the same way a user. SEO helps the engines figure out what each page is about, and how it may be useful for users.
What are the SEO optimizations that must be done with each new page/post?
- Onsite Optimization Always Begins with Good Keyword Research.
Keywords are the bridge that Google uses to connect your site with the web searcher.Brian Dean over at Backlinko, has gone as far as to say, “I’m not exaggerating when I say that without keywords, there’s no such thing as SEO.”
You must put the words that you want to be known for on your site in order for google to find you. We originally wrote this guide a few years ago, but updated it last spring, here is the What, Why and How of Keyword Research. If you read nothing else read that one.
- Use SEO Friendly URLs or Slugs.
A slug is the editable part of the URL that tells what the post is all about. The SEO benefit of a slug is that you can change the words to make sure that it has the words that you really want to rank for. It’s one of the indicators Google uses to determine what a page is about. It’s also one of the things that people see in the search results.
- Write Clear, Understandable Headlines.
Users read web pages (aaaaand so does Google) like the do a newspaper. They start at the top, read the headlines then go back to the top to read the content. If you don’t catch readers’ attention fast (less than 1 second) then they are goners. Headlines are very powerful SEO elements.
