Hello friends!
Happy Thursday! We’re so excited to show off our newly refreshed site! Finally, the shoemaker’s children have some footwear..errr, we mean, the SEO expert’s website has stronger SEO strategy.
We followed our own advice and updated our website with a few simple, but powerful, updates, both on the business side and the SEO side of things. And we’re so excited to show off our refresh, and tell you all about the strategy behind what we did.
Website Tweaks we Made to Up our SEO Game
Pro Tip: Steal these ideas! We don’t mind 😉
1. Usability
Our previous site was confusing. People didn’t know how to work with us, and a confused mind always says “no”. (A confused Google always says no too). So we took a step back, examined our most frequently asked Qs, and reorganized the site to make it super easy to work with us. We’re on a mission to help people get found online, and the first step in that process is working with a great SEO specialist. Updating our usability and making it easier for people to hire is like the digital version of putting on our own airplane mask before putting on someone else’s. You have to help yourself so that you can help others, you know?
2. We have new product offerings!
In the vein of making things less confusing here at Clapping Dog Media, we’ve updated our product offerings!
We’re now working with clients in batches, with clearly organized stages. This makes it more efficient for us, and gets our clients even better results. Win-win.
Want to read more about our new offerings? Right this way.
So, how does this help with SEO…?
Well, a few ways.
- When people have more, and more clear, content to read, they stick around longer
- People also engage with the page more, which boosts SEO
- A page that is more useful will get more backlinks, which, of course, boosts SEO.
SEO tweaks is a case of a rising tide. One tweak here, and another there, lifts all elements across the board.
3. The new site is faster — better theme, cleaner code, tidied admin, etc.
The technical side of your site matters. And a site that is faster, has concise code, and generally is well-organized is going to rank higher than a site that isn’t (all other things being equal). And that’s why we enlisted the help of the fabulous Shay Bocks to help us make magic happen on our site.
And of course, we’re always making sure to keep our alt tags and meta tags current, fix broken internal and external links, and watch performance of speed and mobile.
4. I made sure Google noticed the changes
What good is refreshed site if Google doesn’t know about it? Thankfully, Google has special tools (that anyone can use!) to make sure that Google sees your changes.
Here’s what I did:
- Submitted a new site map via the webmaster tools (psst: submit your site here!)
- Asked google to re-crawl the site (done in the webmaster tools)
5. What I’m doing now to keep boosting my SEO
Now that I’ve updated the site, I just monitor performance, traffic and keywords via my gorgeous Google studio dashboard.
And of course, I continue to post useful content every week (consistency is key!), get strong backlinks, and post on social media (a great resource for backlinks.)
