Timing. It’s a funny thing. Let me get you caught up.
Two days ago, I asked you to GIVE generously to a sweet girl named Sharon who lives in Uganda. She needs heart surgery desperately, the medical costs–$3500– are simply too much for her single mother. So I asked you to GIVE and in return I would you would GET incredible tools that would help your business grow.
It has been an exciting few days.
Not only are people giving $25, $50 and even $100 to Sharon (I know, right?!?!) but people are sharing her story and people are talking about important issues like girls and education and poverty–which I am passionate about. And my amazing friends, like Megan are sharing the story through their social media networks and are even offering their valuable business coaching time to the biggest donors. Seriously it has been chill-bump-worthy!
YESTERDAY at 4PM
I DISCOVERED MY SITE HAS BEEN HACKED!
YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME! COULD THE TIMING BE ANY WORSE?
No. It couldn’t. Immediately, I had to stop watching the Likes and the Happy-Cheery-Hip Hip HOOORAYS and get to work.
Hackers are jerks. But they wouldn’t stop our GOOD.
It was behind the scenes, they got in through a popular plugin and placed benign, but unwanted code on a directory. I am happy to say that less than 12 hours after I discovered the break in, it is fixed.
I had site back ups in place, WordPress had been updated, all of my logins had been updated, so my action plan–which was to call in help from these guys was not a big deal, it was just annoying. I was prepared for it, even though it came at a bad time. The good news is all of the visitors to my site didn’t even know that a security breech had happened, it was all behind the scenes.
(SO PLEASE KNOW IF YOU VISITED CLAPPING DOG MEDIA OR GAVE TO SHARON, YOU ARE COMPLETELY SAFE. AND THANK YOU)
